An update on permit parking zones in University
Dear Resident,
At the end of last year, the Labour-controlled city council outsourced their parking services to Parking Operations, a service provider run by North West Norfolk Council in Kings Lynn. This means that all enquiries to do with parking and permits are now handled by them, not Norwich City Council. These changes were not communicated in advance to residents by Labour run Norwich City Council. Consequently, some residents have been in touch asking for help, so we thought we would provide this short list of instructions.
Renewing your permit
You can renew your permit online at ParkingOperations.co.uk, or by phoning 01553 616222.
Depending on which permit you have, they will require different documentation:
For a standard resident permit you need proof that your vehicle is registered or insured at your property, as well as proof of address, and possibly proof of identity.
For visitor permit scratchcards you will need only proof of address.
For the short-stay free visitor permits, you need proof of address, identity, and means-tested benefit.
A full list of specific documents can be found on their website or by talking to them on the phone. If renewing online, documents can be uploaded electronically. If renewing by phone, they will likely ask you to post your documents to them at PO Box 1149, Kings Lynn, PE30 9AH. Ring them up if you have questions or are unsure.
Reporting illegal parking
You can still report illegal parking on the Norwich City Council website, Norwich.gov.uk/report, or you can report directly to Parking Operations on 01553 616222 (manned 7am-11pm, 7 days a week) or: parking.operations@west-norfolk.gov.uk
Should you need help
Your local Lib Dem team has long had concerns about the accessibility of the Labour-run city council services to those who are not proficient with technology. If we can help in any way, please do let us know.
