Eaton Liberal Democrat Councillors have been calling for a reduction in the speed limit on Newmarket Road on the approach into the City – requesting that the 30mph limit be placed further back along the Cringleford flyover. The announcement therefore that Norfolk County Council have agreed to extend the existing 30mph speed limit on Newmarket Road by 150m southwest has very much been welcomed.

County Councillor Brian Watkins said:

This reduction in the speed of traffic close to 3 junctions – Poplar Avenue, Unthank Road and the Bluebell Slip Road, and a pedestrian crossing will greatly help mitigate the future risks of accidents. The works will also include some lining and signing improvements.

Cllr Brian Watkins

The County Council hope to undertake the work in November/December this year. If you have any queries, please contact Brian.
