We have just seen the launch of Dementia Friendly Norwich.

Cllr Caroline Ackroyd is currently chairing a steering group in Eaton which has already initiated dementia-friendly information sessions in our area. They aim to make it possible for someone living with dementia to live as normal a life as possible for as long as possible in their home, amongst ordinary people.

In September 2014, Cllr Ackroyd secured unanimous support at a meeting of the full Norwich City Council for her motion committing Norwich to become a dementia friendling city. She has recently appeared on Mustard TV talking about her role as a carer.

Commenting Caroline said, "I know first-hand the difference it makes for the person living with dementia and their carer when people, for example, in shops, have that understanding and also of this activity to improve understanding will be of huge benefit to those families."
