Has Labour simply given up on trying to represent you?
Do you know who your local councillors are? You’d be forgiven for not. It seems they’ve entirely given up on trying to be a local voice whatsoever.
At the same time they prop up an administration beset with incompetence. The council received 8096 phone calls in December, with an average wait time over 10 minutes, and 3488 of those had to be rung back because they never managed to get through at all. Some didn’t even get that. Only a lucky 49 could secure a face-to-face appointment.
Talk to the hand cos the face ain’t listening seems to be Labour’s mantra, exemplified by their sham of an Eaton Park consultation. They clearly think they’ve got this election in the bag so don’t need to pay attention to any of what you think.
Meanwhile, unforced errors pile up at the council’s door. They commissioned a piece of public art about climate change - then kept it locked behind closed doors for months (now only accessible by appointment). They then locked the doors to a supposedly publicly-accessible meeting in January.
Isn’t it time they make way for someone who’ll actually try to do the job they’re elected to?
