Norwich local election campaign launched
Norwich Liberal Democrats have unveiled their candidates for the upcoming election on May 5th, together with their plan for the City.
The party is contesting seats in all 13 wards, with a range of candidates drawn from different walks of life, including those who have joined as part of the #libdemfightback and former Lord Mayor, Eaton Councillor Judith Lubbock.
Our plan for Norwich aims to let local people have far more of a say on decisions made at City Hall, giving more power to people in the community.
We will promote jobs through our support of local businesses and importantly, endeavour to build far more houses and flats to reduce an already-high waiting list for properties.
We want to improve our transport links as well as bettering our digital links with the world, hoping to make Norwich an international hub for innovation.
Importantly, we will protect our fine city, fighting for valued frontline services and fixing wear and tear around the community, making certain that Norwich always remains an amazing place to live.
Our Plan
Maintaining our city:
1. Build more houses and flats to provide homes for our citizens
2. Protect our valued community services
Improving Norwich infrastructure:
3. Provide more support to local small businesses
4. Help Norwich become an international hub for digital innovation
5. A clear vision for Norwich's transport needs
Improving your council:
6. Give power to local people, letting them have more of a say on their area to solve community problems
7. Expand income generation for the council, enabling more money to be ploughed back into frontline services
Commenting, Councillor James Wright, Lib Dem Group Leader at City Hall said; "This election comes at a vital time for our city. As the Tory government continues to make life worse, we will ensure that Norwich is always the very best it can be, making sure that public money is always well spent in the ways it is needed most."
