River Wensum filled with sewage

In October, Lib Dem councillors asked the Labour city council to write to the environment agency, asking for greater protection for the Wensum against sewage. They couldn’t be bothered.

It has been revealed that, in 2019-20, 16 hours-worth of raw sewage was pumped into a 2 mile stretch of the Wensum by Anglian Water. Labour claimed to care about this issue, but when given the chance, wouldn’t even try to do anything about it.

It was the Lib Dems instead who passed a motion at county council to protect the Wensum, which attracted the support of the Norfolk Rivers Trust and Norfolk Friends of the Earth.

Even if you like what Labour have to say nationally, when it comes to delivering on local issues, they clearly don’t think they have to try any more.
