Roadworks on the Newmarket Road

Roadworks costing over £1m are currently taking place to improve crossings over the Newmarket Road and kerb realignment on the roundabout
The works funded from the Transforming Cities Fund, money awarded to the county council by the Department of Transport are being undertaken to provide safer, larger crossings for those travelling on foot or by bike, particularly school children and to improve the roundabout for buses. 

Temporary road closures:
•    14 August to 29th September – Christchurch Road and Lime Tree Road at their junctions with Newmarket Road
•    18 September to 27 September (overnight only, 8pm to 6am) – A11 Newmarket Road between Albemarle Road and Daniels Road roundabout 
•    2 October to 17 November – Eaton Road and Leopold Road at their junctions with Newmarket Road
•    6 November to 15 November (overnight only, 8pm to 6am) – A11 Newmarket Road between Claremont Road and Daniels Road roundabout

Temporary traffic management:
•    14 August to 29th September – two-way traffic control on A11 Newmarket Road between Daniels Road roundabout and Lime Tree Road/Christchurch Road junction
•    2 October to 17 November – two-way traffic control on A11 Newmarket Road between Eaton Road/Leopold Road junction and Daniels roundabout
•    10 September to 24 September – lane closures on Daniels roundabout, then nights only (8pm to 6am) 25-27 September for road closure
•    19th October to 10th November – lane closures on Daniels Road roundabout, then nights only (8pm to 6am), 11-15 November for road closure 

Eaton city councillor Caroline Ackroyd who regularly uses the buses says “Buses may be subject to some delays during the daytime hours of working and so allow yourselves extra time to get to an appointment and for up-to-date information about roadworks in Norfolk look on the County Council website at www.norfolk.gov.uk/newmarketroad
