Securing Investigation into St Stephens Street Repaving Spend

An external agency is undergoing an independent investigation into the value-for-money gained when the County Council approved a £6.1m scheme to reorganise St Stephens Street, following calls from the Liberal Democrats.

County Councillor Brian Watkins had branded the scheme a waste, and City Councillor Judith Lubbock has questioned how the expensive new saw-tooth bus stops and street repaving was going to have any effect on motivating people out of cars and into the buses.

SNAP Meetings

Liberal Democrat representatives attended the Norwich police force Safer Neighbourhood Action Plan meeting for University Ward to hear and share reports about community issues requiring police attention. These are regular public events that anyone is entitled to attend and have a dialogue with local constabulary. The next one is TBC.

You can keep up to date with and contact our local police force at www.norfolk.police.uk/your-area/norwich-west.

Surveying Public Opinion

Our surveying team is making its way around the area canvassing local opinion on a whole range of local issues. Thank you to all those who have taken and returned a survey, and sorry if we haven’t quite got to you yet.

So far we’re hearing that troublesome parking and speeding are big problems, particularly around Elizabeth Fry and Colman Road, and that people share our concerns over the local environment and public transport.

If you have an issue that concerns you about the local area, or would like to talk to us about something we’ve detailed already at greater length, get in touch.
